Kazuyo Sejima
This
writing is about the Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima, pertaining to the study
of architecture SANAA.
I decided
to do my research on this winner of the Pritzker Prize because of his interest
in the connections between private and public spaces, and organic growth, both
in form and in the integration of nature.
The
architect used the traditional principles of Japanese architecture in
contemporary architecture, through this almost mystical connection that kept
between spaces, both natural and domestic.
Unlike many
other architects, KS does not refer to the limits of the term as such, rather
as connections, ie the possible limit uses material so you connect the inside
of a building with the public outside.
This focus
can be seen in examples ranging from a small family home, like the Garden of
plums, to large structures such as the glass pavilion or the Museum of
Contemporary Art in Kanazawa.
I like your
way of projecting buildings because like everything Japanese, always want to be
part of the natural movement. No distinction between the house and the garden,
but gives the same importance and includes internal parts in their
architectures dedicated to a small natural park, where you can find your
connection to the planet.
These ideas
appear own architecture of a small house, are applied the same way both to
large public and private buildings.
But it may
seem that it does is build a large window where you can view the outside and is
not. If it is true that the glass used in much of its buildings but not as
unique and exclusive to create these connections hand, it is also able to
create them with opaque partitions, by joining atmospheres. Furthermore KS not
always used as a transparent glass material but as reflective material or
translucent, by superimposing layers of marble, as seen in his temporary
intervention in the pavilion of Mies or by superimposing layers of glass.
For this
architect are also important the different atmospheres that can be created by
light incidence and mode of entry into the dwelling.
My
intention is referrers of this knowledge to apply similar feelings in a public
space, such as a square, a beach or even a church. But my project will not be
to put many transparent panels on the promenade, but getting to understand this
connection between people and their surroundings and places where you develop
own and private activity.
All this
relationship between architecture and nature, partly referenced him came his
master Toyo Ito
Jonh utzon the Sydney
Opera House
The Sydney Opera House
is a work that interests me greatly, however in this particular work as I
consider more appropriate and productive is the public space left open to the
city of Sydney, is a space that generates human interactions you number.
Note that thanks to
this space won the competition, only presenting a few sketches. But such was
its importance scale city that was the winning proposal.
In my opinion a work of
architecture may not be intrinsic but must be open and permeable to the city.
Must be integrated as the architecture of Kazuyo Sejima. This would not be out
of the blue buildings in a particular place but will be a livable city
